Program Details
It is to be emphasized that this is not a holiday but a working/learning camp which will require a night-time curfew so that students are not tired during the day and are able to fulfill the work requirements.
Students will need to be capable swimmers in deep water if they wish to participate in the optional snorkeling activity. The dives are in sight of land, but some are in deep enough out of sight of land with minor currents.
No mobiles/laptops or other electronic equipment will be allowed to be used by the students during classes. Adults may carry them to be used only if required during the breaks / after the sessions.
Overview of the topics - Geomorphology
Study the vertical and horizontal movements in the layers of the earth – Principles of plate tectonics
Understand the principles of geology and the formation of strata
Students will draw, write, analyze, discuss, question, and learn to interpret information about the strata and the earth and its evolution
Students will draw maps of land and sea bed adjoining the island and understand how the ocean currents have affected the land
They will write descriptions of the movements of the earth’s layers and interpret the ideas suggested by Wegener
They will study the cross-section of the Earth and the ages and types of rocks
They will draw and interpret: the series of events leading up to a change of land formation taking into consideration local weather; ocean currents, the movements of the mantle molten rocks; the composition of the soil, and pollution on the land, water, and air.
The diving aspect (optional): Students who opt for this module, will travel beneath the sea surface and alloy them to experience ocean currents and the sea bed, first hand. Part of the experience will involve the physics of air and water.
Artistic activity: The students will be required to work with artistic media to make drawings of land and sea at different heights and depths.
Overview of the topics - Music
Take the children on a journey of sound and music awareness. The camp will cover the following:
